Nepal Open University, Central Office, Manbhawan, Lalitpur, Nepal Notice for New Admission Applications

Nepal Open University, under its Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, Faculty of Science, Health and Technology, and Faculty of Management and Law, announces new admissions for various postgraduate programs for the winter session of the academic calendar 2081. Under the semester system, applicants must fill out the online admission form on the university's website, www.nou.edu.np, under the Student panel from 2081/09/05 to 2081/10/06. Detailed admission information is provided below.

The application fee must be deposited in the name of Nepal Open University at Global IME Bank Limited, Kirtipur Branch, Account No. 00501010000502. The bank voucher must be scanned and uploaded along with the application.

Information regarding the entrance examination will be published later. Applicants must upload scanned copies of their certificates and transcripts of the minimum educational qualifications required for the respective program along with the application.

The type of entrance examination, examination center, and schedule will be published later. Detailed information about the entrance examination syllabus, fees, and course details will be available in the Menu of the respective faculty on the university’s website.

Applicants must have basic computer skills and knowledge. The university is not obligated to admit students if the number of applicants per program and subject is less than 20. For further information, don't hesitate to contact the respective faculty.

Note:

Applicants must keep the bank voucher safe. Since there is no agreement with institutions like eSewa, Khalti, etc., students are informed that they should only make payments through the respective bank.

MPhil in Social Sciences (2 years or 4 semesters)

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have completed a Master's degree or equivalent with a second class or CGPA 2.7 on a 4-point scale. For Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science, a Master's degree or equivalent in any subject is required. For English, a Master's degree or equivalent in the relevant subject is required. For Economics, a Master's degree or equivalent in Economics, MBM, MA/MSc in Mathematics or Statistics is required.

2. MPhil in Education (1.5 years or 3 semesters)

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have completed a Master's degree or equivalent with a second class or CGPA 2.7 on a 4-point scale. For English Education, Nepali Education, Mathematics Education, and Health Education, a Master's degree or equivalent in the relevant subject is required. For Education Studies, a Master's degree or equivalent in any subject is required.

Postgraduate Programs:

1. Master in Media and Communication Studies (MMCS) (2 years or 4 semesters)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any subject with second class (50%) or CGPA 2.7 on a 4-point scale.

2. Master in Educational Sciences (MES) (2 years or 4 semesters)

Minimum Qualification:

One must have completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any subject for education studies. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the relevant subject is required for Nepali and English Education. However, students admitted from non-education subject groups must study an additional three-credit course on the Foundation of Education.

MPhil in ICT: 1.5 years (semester system)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a Master's degree or equivalent in Information Technology (IT) or Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with second class or CGPA 2.4.

Master's Degree in e-Governance: 2 years (semester system)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a Bachelor's degree with second class or CGPA 2.4 in any subject. If the Bachelor's degree is not in IT, at least 2 years of work experience in Information Technology and related skills is required.

Master's Degree in Geoinformatics: 2 years (semester system)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a Bachelor's degree with second class or CGPA 2.4 in any subject and have basic computer knowledge and related skills.

Master's Degree in Natural Resource and Development (NRD): 2 years (semester system)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Natural Science or Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree in any subject with a 1-year Diploma in Natural Resource and Development or 5 years of related work experience with second class or CGPA 2.4 and basic computer knowledge and skills.

Master of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH): 2 years (semester system)

Minimum Qualification:

Must have completed a minimum 3-year Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Engineering, Health Science, Medicine, or Nursing from a recognized university. For those with a Bachelor's degree in other subjects, 5 years of work experience in environment, health, or occupational health-related fields in academic, research, government, or semi-government sectors with second class or CGPA 2.4 and basic computer knowledge and skills are required.
