The open school education system has an important role to play in ensuring access to education. The open education system is helping to bring children who have not completed schooling due to socio-economic, geographical, and other reasons and those who have reached school age into the mainstream of education by providing education opportunities.

Based on the school education curriculum, self-study materials for the compulsory subject class ten have been developed from the Educational Manpower Development Center of Savik in the last few years.

This year, this self-study material of open school class ten has been constructed based on the curriculum of the current school education class ten elective office operation and accounting subject. Attempts have been made to cover this subject by including the subjects which could not be covered in the textbook. Also, as there is a provision that those who have passed class VIII can also sit for class ten examination, an attempt has been made to include the subjects of class nine in this material. Attempts have been made to make each lesson read-friendly by including its introduction, purpose, content, activities, backing, and practice.

Efforts have been made to make the subjects simple and practical so that the students can read and understand on their own. This material has been developed as a supplement rather than a textbook.

Renuka Pandey, Director, Center for Education and Human Resource Development, and Bhimadevi Koirala, Branch Officer, Baburam Bhusal, and Shambhu Vivram Bista coordinate the self-study material. The Center for Education and Human Resource Development would like to thank Deputy Director General Chudamani Poudel for his continuous advice and suggestions on the development of this material. The Center for Education and Human Resource Development always welcomes constructive suggestions and feedback to further improve this content.
