Overview
Beni Hospital (Beni Aspatal - बेनी अस्पताल)- Government of Gandaki Pradesh, Ministry of Social Development: The hospital was started in 2052 BS (1995 AD) as Salambeni Health Center in the Myagdi district of Dhaulagiri zone. Later, this hospital had been operating as Myagdi District Hospital since 2063 BS. Health care is an essential service for human beings. It is the duty of the state to provide health care to the people in an accessible, secure, transparent, and accessible manner.
Promoting and developing modern and traditional health care methods to enhance the physical and mental health of the common people, effectively prevent diseases and make appropriate arrangements for treatment, formulate policies, implement health programs related to non-governmental organizations and the private sector, monitor and evaluate. The objective of the Ministry of Health and Population is to bring positive change in the living standards of the people.
In line with this objective, in order to develop and expand the health service, Myagdi District Hospital has been upgraded to Beni Hospital from 2072 BS and the service with 50 beds has been started. The hospital is expected to benefit about 600,000 people not only in the Myagdi district but also in all four districts of Parbat, Myagdi, Mustang, and Baglung.
The Beni Hospital currently has 10 specialist-level doctors including one medical superintendent. Similarly, the Government of Nepal has a total of 59 posts including Medical Officer, Nursing, Lab, Radiology, and others.
A total of 36 people from different levels are working at the local level from the Hospital Development Committee to make the service of the hospital effective. At present, all the posts up to the medical officer have been filled in the hospital and some medical officers and specialist doctors have been deployed in the contract service by the Government of Nepal.
Due to the shortage of specialist doctors in government posts, it is becoming difficult to provide specialist services from this hospital. The hospital has 24-hour regular emergency services, outpatient and inpatient services as well as obstetrics, lab radiology, and ultrasound services. The hospital also offers free blood tests, counseling, and counseling services for HIV-positive people, as well as free ART facilities for people with AIDS.
The Government of Nepal's new program, the Hospital-Based Gender-Based Violence Crisis Management Center, also operates at the hospital, where people suffering from gender-based violence can receive free health care as well as psychosocial counseling services and seek additional advice and assistance for legal treatment. The hospital has also been developed as an EWARS Sentinel Site for Outbreaks. The hospital has a hospital pharmacy from which medicines are available 24 hours a day. In addition, regular dialysis services have been provided in the hospital. A 52-kilowatt solar energy system has been installed in the hospital premises to provide 24-hour electricity.
Thus, Beni Hospital, which has a majority of remote and backward communities, is currently under construction with the only specialist services in the hospital. This will enable the poor and the underprivileged people at the local level to get the basic right to health care and further help in implementing the health policy brought by the Government of Nepal.
