Overview
Helvetas Nepal is part of a network of independent development organizations. Its head offices are located in Switzerland, Germany, and the USA. Helvetas has been working in 29 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. It brings about real change in the lives of over 3 million disadvantaged people every year. It implements development projects in the areas of education, water and sanitation, economic development, agriculture and nutrition, democracy and peace, and climate and the environment. Helvetas Nepal also provides emergency response after disasters.
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal is a Swiss non-governmental organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal. Nepal Agricultural Services Development Programme, Prayas is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal.
Helvetas Nepal is one of the decentralized country programs of Helvetas and has been operating in Nepal under an agreement with the Government of Nepal (GoN) since 1956. It implements its programs and projects throughout the country, cooperating with many technical and social organizations. Through its work at both local and national levels, Helvetas Nepal supports activities leading to sustainable development and poverty reduction. It aims at creating environments in which people have new choices and become equipped with new skills and abilities to improve their livelihoods.
Helvetas Nepal partners with local and national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private sector entities, and local and national government bodies. It promotes the principles of decentralization and subsidiarity in decision making, implementation, and accountability for development.
