Historical Background:

After the eradication of malaria, which was initially inhabited only by the indigenous Tharu community, various castes have started migrating from other districts. Thus, despite the presence of different castes and tribes in different districts, there have been mutual relations between all the communities. There have been various legends about this area

In the Treta era, when Lord Krishna brought cows from Gokul to graze, Laura stabbed him and took out water to feed the cattle, so the place is known as Lauri Ghol. It is said that Ratnanagar was formed from this. According to Shiva Purana, Agni's wife Rati's desire to get her husband as a gift by meditating on Shiva in this place has been fulfilled. This area was then known as Devauli Village Panchayat. After the visit of the then Maharani Ratna Rajyalakshmi Shah, the name of the village was changed to Ratnanagar VDC. It has been said that the name of the Ratnanagar Municipality has remained.
