Overview
Gyan Sarowar Academy (GSA) is an emerging educational institution in Kaski district, the western region of Nepal. With the spirit of quality education both in school and at higher levels. GEFUND, an educational company, had started GSA in 2008 as a community-driven scheme. It offers educational programs from PG to grade 10 and Plus Two (Class 11 and 12) programs..
GEFUND has a clear strategy to advance GSA as a strong academic center for higher studies within the next decade (2024, AD). 'Education for change' is the motto of GSA. It envisions education and educational institutions as powerhouses for the overall development of society. Active participation of local communities and stakeholders in making education policies and their implementation are key strategies to materialize the vision.
Now, GSA team is working with a short-term strategy; the 'vision 2017' which aims to transcend GSA as 'a model academic institution' in quality education by 2017.
Objectives:
-Expand the coverage of quality education for the larger populations
-Enhance wider partnership from national to international level
-Provide vocational and non-formal education services
-Regular publication and dissemination of findings and knowledge
Strategic milestones of G-fund in the next two decades:
The outcomes of each milestone would be achieved within the given time frame.
Milestone no 1 (within 2017)
-Started to provide college-level education
-Established 5 sister organizations in the Kaski district
-No. 1 preference in quality education
Milestone no 2 (Within 2022)
-Started university and degree level programs in Social and natural sciences
-Adopt collaborative national and international projects in specific areas of research and development
-Strong partnership with local communities and government bodies
-Positive influence on government policies and plans
Milestone no 3 (Within 2027)
-Started M. Phil and Ph.D. programs in specific fields of education
-Strong partnership with national and foreign universities
Milestone no 4 (Within 2032)
-Fulfill all requirements to establish a strong university in Pokhara valley.
