Notification: Enrollment for the Anesthesia Assistant Course at the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS)

 The National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), located at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu, has issued a notification regarding the enrollment of students for the Anesthesia Assistant Course in the academic year 2080-2081. This one-year course aims to provide comprehensive training to individuals interested in pursuing a career as anesthesia assistants.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for enrollment, applicants must be Nepali citizens and have completed their Health Assistant, Proficiency Certificate Level in Nursing, or Ophthalmic Assistant from a recognized institution. Additionally, candidates need to open a current account with a non-refundable fee of Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees 2000) and submit the original receipt along with all the required documents mentioned in the entrance examination form.

Application Process

Prospective students can collect the entrance examination form from the Dean's Office at NAMS starting from 2080/02/21. The completed form and supporting documents must be submitted at Bir Hospital, Mahabauddha. If the submission day falls on a holiday, it should be done within the first working day after the holiday.

Admit Card and Examination

The admit cards for the entrance exam will be distributed on 2080/03/14. The admit card will mention the date, time, and venue of the examination. Applicants requiring further details are advised to contact the Dean's Office at NAMS.

Seat Allocation

The available seats for the Anesthesia Assistant Course are distributed as follows:

  • National Health Training Center (NHTC): 4 seats
  • Bagmati Pradesh Government of Nepal: 4 seats
  • Gandaki Pradesh Government: 5 seats
  • Nick Simons Institute (Sponsor): 8 seats
  • Institutional/Open Institutional/Private: 3 seats

Note on Seat Allocation

If there are any vacant seats from the Nepal government and sponsor categories, admission will be granted to eligible candidates based on merit from the open competition.

Requirements for Specific Categories

Candidates falling into specific categories need to fulfill additional requirements:

  • National Health Training Center (NHTC): Qualified candidates working under the Government of Nepal must attach a prior approval letter.
  • Bagmati Pradesh Government: Qualified candidates must attach a prior approval letter from the Ministry of Health of the province.
  • Gandaki Pradesh: Candidates eligible to work in Gandaki Province must attach a prior approval letter from the Ministry of Health of the province.
  • Nick Simons Institute (Sponsor): Attach the nomination letter from the organization.
  • Institutional/Private: Applicants must submit a certificate proving at least 2 years of continuous work experience in the concerned institution, along with a sponsorship letter from the institution for their studies.

Preference and Age Criteria

Candidates currently employed in government organizations where the Comprehensive Employees' Organization (CEOC) is applicable will be given preference. The age of applicants will be considered as per the prevailing rules until the last date of application.

Additional Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a copy of the certificate registered with the Nepal Health Professional Council or Nepal Nursing Council, along with a certificate demonstrating a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a health institution recognized by the Government of Nepal. Furthermore, candidates from Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and institutional/open categories must pay the specified training fee determined by NAMS.
