CALL FOR APPLICATION INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP IN GASTROENTEROLOGY QiMET INTERNATIONAL: This is a call for application for International Fellowship in Gastroenterology, for the year 2022.

This is an international opportunity to do a Fellowship in Gastroenterology through QIMET International (01). QI stands for 'Quality improvement Medical Education and Training' International and Is a Medical Workforce Development organisation that seeks to provide a "Hybrid" Clinical and Leadership Education and Training programme for doctors seeking to develop their careers in Gastroenterology and other clinical specialties. After a series of talks and initial meetings in November 2017, QI developed and implemented the International Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 2021.

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The Hybrid International Gastroenterology (HI-GASTRO) Training is a 4-year academic program.

The first 18 months of the training will be in Chitwan Medical College (CMC), Nepal. The next 2 years of training will be in Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital (DBTH), UK. The last 6 months of the training will be in CMC, Nepal.

Trainees will follow the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) curriculum, RCP portfolio, and F. Res (Fellowship in Research) modules as part of the training. The Trainees are also required to write a 10,000-word Thesis and submit it to the CMC—IRC to complete the course. At the end of 4 years, the trainee will receive an International Fellowship in Gastroenterology and a FRES from QiMET International. The International Fellowship in Gastroenterology will be awarded by QIMET international and DBTH. The degree of F. RES will be awarded by QiMET International.

The trainee will go to DBTH, UK through the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Pathway.

  • Royal College of Physicians, UK supports this Fellowship in Gastroenterology.

III. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Doctors with an MBBS degree and one year of experience as a Medical Officer & registered in the Nepal Medical Council are eligible to apply for this program.
  • Those who have ever attempted/passed PLAB are not eligible for this exam.

TRAINEE SELECTION & RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

  • You will have to pass the HI-GASTRO Entrance exam conducted by QiMET International.
  • You will subsequently have to deposit NRS. Three Lakhs as admission fee (Non-refundable).
  • You will subsequently be offered the post of Pre-Fellowship Trainee at Chitwan Medical College in the Department of Gastroenterology.
  • In the meantime, you will have to prepare for MRCP Part I and pass MRCP Part I. While preparing for MRCP Part I, you will have to simultaneously attend the academic teaching sessions online, via ZOOM, every Wednesday. These teaching sessions will be organized by QiMET International.
  • Subsequent to passing the MRCP Part I exam, you will have to pay additional NRS. 25 lakhs (NRS Twenty Five Lakhs} within one month of passing the MRCP Part I exam, out of which 5 lakhs will be refunded at the end of the 4 years of the HI-Gastro Training Program.
  • Subsequent to passing the MRCP Part I, you will have to work in CMC as a HI-Gastro International Training Registrar (ITR) in the Department of Gastroenterology before going to the UK.
  • During this period in CMC, you will have to pass the CET exam with at least Gradel3", in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) of the Occupational English Test (OET)-medicine version. You will have to undertake ACLS/BCLS training, complete the RCP portfolio, pass ARCP (Annual Review of Competency Progression) and complete the MTI process.
  • Subsequent to completion of the aforementioned process, you will continue your next 2 years of training in DBTH, UK.
  • If you do not pass MRCP Part I by November 15, 2023, you will not be eligible for the HI-Gastro Training Program and your admission fee will not be refunded

STIPEND:

  • The trainee will receive a stipend of 18,000 NRS (NRS Eighteen Thousand) per month at CMC during the first 18 months at CMC.
  • The trainee will receive a stipend of thirty-five thousand pounds per annum during the training period in DBTH.

COURSE START DATE: The HI-GASTRO training program will commence on November 15, 2022
