Nepal Mountain Academy Offers MSc in Mountain and Mountaineering Science
The Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA), established by the Government of Nepal's Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, offers a Master of Science in Mountain and Mountaineering Science (MMS) program affiliated with the Institute of Science and Technology (loST), Tribhuvan University (TU). The program's objective is to develop and promote advanced knowledge and skills in the field of mountain studies and mountaineering.
Eligibility Criteria for the MMS Program
Candidates who wish to apply for the MMS program must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50 percent or a CGPA of 2.00 in any of the following disciplines:
- BSc. in General Science or equivalent
- BSc. Forestry or equivalent
- BSc. Agriculture or equivalent
- BE. in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Bachelor in Physical Geography or equivalent
- Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies (BMS) with +2 in Science
- BSc. CSIT (B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology)
Required Documents for Admission
Candidates must submit the following documents along with their application:
- Certificates and testimonials of all examinations passed
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
- Equivalency certificate if the candidate's bachelor's degree is from a foreign board
Application Process and Fee
Interested candidates can obtain the application form for the MMS program from loST, TU, and NMA from 11 Falgun, 2079. The application fee for the entrance exam is Rs. 2100/-. The last date for submission of the entrance application is 8 Chaitra, 2079.
Admission Test (Entrance Examination)
Candidates must appear for the admission test as per the loST, TU notice.
