College of Biomedical Engineering & Applied Sciences (CBEAS): Affiliation with Purbanchal University: The College of Biomedical Engineering & Applied Sciences (CBEAS) is affiliated with Purbanchal University, making it one of the highly reputed colleges in Nepal.

Establishment: CBEAS was established in 2005, with a vision to provide an excellent education in the field of biomedical engineering and applied sciences.

Location and Facilities: Conveniently located at Dhana Ganesh, HandigaunMarg, CBEAS offers well-furnished classrooms, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and all facilities required for the smooth functioning of the courses.

Unique Offering: CBEAS is the first college in Asia to provide higher education in Biomedical Engineering for Bachelor level students. This makes CBEAS a pioneer in the field, attracting students from all over Nepal and neighboring countries.

Registered in Nepal Engineering Council: Apart from being affiliated with Purbanchal University, CBEAS is also registered with Nepal Engineering Council, ensuring the quality of education and recognition of the courses offered.

Salient Features:

Certificate of Recognition: CBEAS was awarded the Best Private College in Nepal certificate and a cheque of two hundred and fifty thousand on the occasion of the 37th National Education Day-2073 and International Literacy Day by the Ministry of Education.

Quality Assurance & Accreditation: CBEAS is the only affiliated college in Nepal, the first among Purbanchal University colleges, and the only engineering college in Kathmandu Valley to have completed the Quality Assurance & Accreditation (QAA) cycle from the University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal.

International Conferences: CBEAS has already organized two International Conferences, inaugurated by the President and Vice President of Nepal, respectively. The college is proposing the third conference for 2019.

Graduates' Achievements: CBEAS graduates have an impressive record of higher studies, with some already completing Ph.D. and 40% enrolled in Master's programs in reputed universities worldwide. Many of them received full scholarships, assistantships, or research grants for their higher studies, including prestigious scholarships such as Erasmus Mundus (Europe), Marie Curie fellowship (Italy), and Singa Award (Singapore). Some graduates also established their own companies, providing jobs to several biomedical engineers.

Employment Record: Since its inception in 2062, CBEAS has produced seven batches with 250 graduates, and no graduate has been found idle/jobless. This remarkable achievement is an attestation to the quality of education and training provided by the college.

Research Publications: CBEAS students have published many articles in National and International Journals. One student paper presented at the International Conference on "Biomaterials Implant Devices and Tissue Engineering (BIDTE-12)" conducted in India in 2012, won first prize.

Partnerships: CBEAS has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Ghent University, National Kidney Center, Nepal Orthopedic Hospital, Annapurna Neurological Institute and Allied Sciences in Nepal, and Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India. The college is also working closely with IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, the Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (STERMI), and the Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs India (SABOI) to enhance the quality of education.

Scholarships and Internships: CBEAS students received scholarships and internships from various international institutions, including the Ghent University of Belgium and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia. The college provides internships to foreign students and has established partnerships with the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) for this purpose.

Awards and Recognitions: Two graduates from CBEAS received the most prestigious "Nepal Chhatra Vidya Padak" from the President of Nepal. The Ministry of Health, Government of Nepal, in its directives of 2070, clearly stated that 100 and above-bedded hospitals must have biomedical engineer/s, indicating the importance of the field and its professionals.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

At the College of Biomedical Engineering and Applied Sciences, we understand the importance of providing financial assistance to deserving students who are eager to pursue their academic goals but may face financial constraints. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • 5% scholarship based on merit
  • 5% scholarship to minorities, Dalits, differently-abled students, and members of martyr families

APPLICATION PROCESS

To apply for a scholarship, students must submit their scholarship application along with their admission application. The scholarship application must include:
