Overview

Rampur Campus (IAAS Rampur Campus), a proud affiliate of Tribhuvan University, is distinguished as the first Agriculture College under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science. This esteemed educational institution was established in 1972 in Jagadamba Bhawan, Pulchowk, and later moved to Rampur, Chitwan in 1974, blossoming into an agricultural hub with a 235 ha of land by 1978.

The noble mission of Rampur Campus revolves around providing first-rate education in agriculture and related disciplines, fostering research and development, and circulating agricultural technology. Its graduates have been making significant impacts across various sectors, from ministries and departments to I/NGOs and academic institutions.

Objective Cornerstones of Rampur Campus:

  • Ensuring instructional excellence in agricultural research and technology dissemination.
  • Cultivating technically proficient agricultural graduates capable of contributing to diverse sectors like technical agriculture, agricultural extension, education, agribusiness, and rural development programs.
  • Encouraging faculty members and students for research and academic activities aligning with the needs of Nepalese agriculture and farmers.
  • Promoting self-development, commitment, and responsibility among students for the betterment of Nepalese society.

Rampur Campus: A Journey of Transformation

Initially, the campus primarily offered B.Sc. Ag and B.V.Sc. and A.H. programs, both of which were paused and the latter shifted to Paklihawa Campus after the establishment of Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU). This move stirred up a wave of changes, with all physical structures and human resources transitioning to AFU. However, the government's decision to establish a monitoring body brought about a resolution, leading to the reaffirmation of the importance of Tribhuvan University's programs in both Chitwan and Hetauda.

Emerging Triumphantly: The New Era of Rampur Campus

In its most recent development, the Executive Council of Tribhuvan University has declared Kankali Community Forest Area, a government-owned land, as the site for Rampur Campus in eastern Chitwan. This decision has breathed new life into the campus with the introduction of a new batch of admissions and the support of Khairahani Municipality in terms of physical structure and monetary contributions.

However, to truly unlock its potential, Rampur Campus needs further resources, such as land, physical structures, human resources, and a substantial budget.
