National Vitamin A Campaign for Children to Take Place on 6-7 Baishakh 2080 in Nepal
The government of Nepal has announced that it will conduct a national vitamin A campaign for children in the first week of Baisakh 2080. Dr. Vivek Kumar Lal, director of the Family Welfare Division of the Department of Health Services, has informed that the campaign will take place on 6th and 7th of Baishakh, 2080.
Vitamin A and Leprosy Medicine to be Given
During the campaign, vitamin A and leprosy medicine will be given to children across the country. The department has also announced that vitamin A capsules will be given to children aged six months to 59 months, and anti-worm medicine will be given to children aged one to five years.
Circular Issued to Ensure Success
The Family Welfare Division has issued a circular to the state and local levels to make the national campaign program a success. The department has also announced that vitamin A will be given to about 2.7 million children, while anti-worm medicine will be given to about 2.4 million children.
Aim to Reduce Health Complications and Malnutrition
The government started giving vitamin A capsules from 2050 to reduce the risk of health complications and malnutrition in children. Similarly, leprosy medicine has been given from 2056. Every year in Baisakh and Kattik, the government gives vitamin A and anti-worm medicine to children.
