Call for Papers

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal is pleased to announce the 3rd International Conference on Economics and Finance. The conference is scheduled for 28-29 February 2020 in Kathmandu, Nepal. This event is expected to bring policymakers, practitioners, and researchers together to discuss economic and financial sector issues.

Topics of deliberation may include, but are not limited to:

  • Macroeconomic policies, macroprudential policies, macro-financial linkages
  • Fiscal federalism, public finance, decentralization
  • Globalization, international trade, exchange rate regimes, capital flows, remittance
  • The business cycle, inclusive growth, poverty reduction, income inequality, unemployment
  • Education, health, labor, tourism, energy
  • Payment system, FinTech, RegTech, SupTech, cybersecurity
  • Financial inclusion, financial access, microfinance finance, green financing
  • Financial development, financial stability, financial consolidation, capital market development

 Guidelines for submission of paper:

  • The paper to be submitted for the conference should be original work not previously published, and it is not being considered elsewhere for publication, and that if accepted for presentation, it will not be published anywhere without the consent of the Conference Organizing Committee.
  • The abstract should be sufficiently detailed to allow judging by the Selection Committee of its merits, but should be limited to 500 words and should contain JEL classification and keywords.
  • The abstract so received is subject to a blind review process and then subject to the approval of the Conference Organizing Committee.
  • Submissions should be written in English, typed in double space with wide margins (3 cm), on Times New Roman font and twelve sizes.
  • The abstract should be submitted online by using the Abstract Form available on the conference webpage.
  • The title page should contain the title, the name, institutional affiliation(s), full postal address, telephone/fax number and E-mail of each author. In the event that, there is more than one author, the indication should be made as to which author is responsible for correspondence.
  • In case the author(s) is provided a grant or any type of financial support from any organization or institution, this should be spelled out clearly below the keywords.
  • Submissions should be written in English, typed in double spacing with wide margins (3 cm), on Times New Roman font and size 12.
  • Footnotes, if any, should be numbered consecutively with superscript arithmetic numerals at the foot of each page.
  • References in the text should follow the author-date format and followed, if necessary, by the page numbers [for example, Hemphill (1974, 637)]. References should be listed alphabetically in the style of NRB Economic Review. (http://www.nrb.org.np/ecorev/index.php).
  • The length of the full paper should be between 4,000 and 6,000 words.
  • Full paper should be emailed to nrbconference2020@nrb.org.np and nrbconference2020@gmail.com (both addresses).

Conference Benefits:

  • There is no registration fee for the conference presenters as well as participants.
  • All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings on the website of Nepal Rastra Bank and will be made available on the flash drive.
  • Accepted in reference to Nepal or regional analysis can also be considered for the NRB Economic Review, a peer-reviewed bi-annual journal of NRB.
  • A complimentary city tour package will be arranged for the international participants on the second day of the conference.
  • Complimentary lunch and dinner will be provided to all participants on the conference day and lunch during the city tour.

Travel and Accommodation

  • Costs related to travel and accommodations will have to be borne by the paper presenters/participants themselves.
  • Hotel information will be provided on the NRB website.
