Prithvi Jayanti and Rastriya Ekata Diwas: Prithvi Narayan Shah's 300th birth anniversary and National Unity Day are being celebrated with various programs across the country on Tuesday.

No program has been organized by the government on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti and Rastriya Ekata Diwas. But Prithvinarayan Shah's contribution to the unification of Nepal is being commemorated by offering a wreath to the statue of the Nation Builder at the west entrance of Singha Durbar.

The Nepal Army has also decided to lay a wreath at the statue of the Nation Builder at the Army Headquarters. At the grassroots level, a large rally has also been organized from Shantiwatika in the capital.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party has also organized a separate program. Distinguished personalities from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the Prithivi Jayanti and National Unity Day celebrations organized by Citizens.

Former King Gyanendra Shah will also participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah in front of Singha Durbar.

Prithvi Narayan Shah, who was born in Gorkha on the 27th of Poush, Bikram Sambat 1779, had built a modern Nepal by uniting the small kingdoms.

After Prithvinarayan became king, he succeeded in extending the border of Nepal from Tista in the east to the Chepe river in the west. After the demise of Prithvinarayan, his successor has a history of extending the state of Nepal to the fort Kangada in the west.

Prithvi Narayan Shah had conquered Nuwakot in 1801 BS. Twenty-five years later, in 1826, he succeeded in conquering the Kathmandu Valley. After conquering the Nepal Valley, Prithvinarayan Shah extended the borders of the country by conquering Chaudandi Vijaypur, etc. in the east.

Today, the 300th birth anniversary of Prithvinarayan Shah is being celebrated with various programs across the country.

Analyzing the situation of Nepal at that time, Prithvi Narayan Shah's Dibbaya Upadesh is still relevant and he is being praised as a visionary person.

There has been a demand to declare Poush 27th as National Unity Day and make it a public holiday.

There is a program organized by Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan, Nepal Lalitakala Pratisthan, Nepal Sangeet-Natya Pragya-Pratishthan and Sanskritik Sansthan. Similarly, various cultural glimpses of Nepal will be presented at the Jamal-based National Dance Hall at 2.30 pm. Similarly, other organizations are also celebrating Prithvi Jayanti across the country by organizing various programs.
