Overview
Bigu Rural Municipality (बिगु गाउँपालिका, दोलखा) of Dolakha District under Bagmati Province is a geographical and administrative unit established in accordance with Article 295 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal. There are 8 wards in the Rural Municipality named after Bigu Gumba, a famous tourist spot of the Dolakha district. Bigu Gaupalika is bounded on the east by Gaurishankar Rural Municipality, on the west by Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok District, on the north by Vishal Chin and on the south by Kalinchok Rural Municipality of the same district.
33 km from Charikot, the district headquarters of Dolakha. 663.2 sq. Km. Singti Bazaar, the commercial center of this rural municipality spread over an area, is known as the main entrance. According to the 2011 census, the total population is 18,449 with 8,846 males and 9,603 females. According to the same census, the total number of households in this rural municipality is 4,418, population density is 28 per sq. Km. And an average household size of 4.2.
Upper Tamakoshi (456 MW), Singti Hydropower (25 MW), tourist sites Bigu Gumba, Deudhunga, Boulaha Pokhari, Deulangeshwori Mahadev, Tatopani Kund, Gonlama Raja Durbar, Etc. are considered as the main basis of tourism promotion and economic prosperity. This village falls within the Gaurishankar Conservation Area. Yarsagumba, Panchaole, Sarpagandha, Chiraito, Dhupi and other herbal products, Alampu stone quarry, Bulung copper mine, and other commodities such as potato, wheat, maize, millet, paddy, etc.
