Overview
Umakunda Rural Municipality (उमाकुण्ड गाउँपालिका, रामेछाप) is a rural municipality located in the northern part of the Ramechhap district. This village municipality is the largest in the Ramechhap district geographically. The population of this rural municipality is 17601 with a total of seven wards. It is spread over an area of 451.99 sq. Km. The center of the Umakunda Rural Municipality is currently in Chyadalu of Ward No. 4 Priti.
Umakunda is bounded on the east by Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga districts, on the west by Gokulganga Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district, on the north by Solukhumbu and Dalkha districts and on the south by Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality of Okhaldhunga and Ramechhap districts. Due to the geographical remoteness, this rural municipality is facing a big challenge in its prosperity.
Umakunda Gaupalika's prosperity is based on agriculture, tourism, and water resources. Umakunda is full of religious, historical, and scenic places. Panchpokhari and Jattapokhari are considered important in terms of religion and tourism.
Umakunda is the main entrance to the important lakes and ponds.
