Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) and Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS) 2024-2025 for Nepali Students

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu invites online applications from Nepali students studying in Nepal for the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) and the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS).

The online application form can be submitted via the web portal www.goischolarship.com.np from Kartik 9 to Mangsir 4, 2081 (25th October 2024 - 19th November 2024). The portal will close on Mangsir 5, 2081, at 12:00 AM (20th November 2024, 00:00 hrs). Applicants must submit their applications by Mangsir 4, 2081, 11:59 PM (19th November 2024, 23:59 hrs).

A. Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 (For Class 11 Students)

1. Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be regular Class 11 (non-diploma) students enrolled in any recognized educational institution in Nepal. They must upload a certificate verified by the head of the institution stating that they are currently studying in Class 11 and have not received any other scholarship.
  • A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 10 is required. Applicants need to upload the mark sheet of Class 10.

2. Scholarship Amount and Duration:

Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of NPR 24,000 per year for two years (Classes 11 and 12). The scholarship for Class 12 will continue only if the following documents are submitted:

  1. A copy of the Class 11 mark sheet.
  2. The head of the institution verified a certificate confirming the students' percentage in Class 11 and their grades in Class 12.

B. Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 (For Bachelor's Degree Courses)

1. Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be regular students enrolled in the first year of a bachelor's degree (non-diploma) at any recognized educational institution in Nepal. They must upload a certificate verified by the head of the institution stating that they are currently studying for their first year of a bachelor's degree and have not received any other scholarship.
  • A minimum of 70% aggregate marks in Class 12 (excluding Class 11 marks) is required. Applicants need to upload the mark sheet of Class 12.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should be between 17 and 22 years old as of 17th Asar 2082.

2. Scholarship Amount and Duration:

Selected candidates will receive scholarships as follows:

The scholarship will continue for the subsequent years only if the following documents are submitted:

  1. A copy of the mark sheet for each year.
  2. A certificate verified by the head of the institution, confirming the percentage achieved in the previous year (for semester systems, aggregate percentage) and that the student is continuing their studies in the next year/semester.

Note:

  • Applicants must be Nepali citizens and upload their citizenship certificates along with those of their guardians.
  • Applicants with disabilities must submit a certificate from a Nepal Government authority (local/district administration office, etc.).
  • The applicant's annual family income should not exceed NPR 200,000, as verified by a recent income certificate issued by a Nepal government authority.

Submission of Required Documents:

Scholarship recipients must email the documents mentioned above to attacheedu.kathmandu@mea.gov.in by Poush 16 each year. After receiving the required documents, the scholarship will be credited to the recipient’s bank account (opened by the embassy). Failure to submit documents within the specified time frame will cancel the scholarship.

Points to Note:

  1. Applicants receiving scholarships from any other source will not be eligible for these scholarships.
  2. Applicants must mention their name, address, email ID, contact number, and marks while submitting the online application. They should upload legible documents and a recent passport-size photograph to avoid rejection.
  3. All scholarship-related information, including original document verification, candidate selection, bank account opening guidelines, reminders, etc., will be communicated through registered email only. Applicants are advised to keep their email credentials secure.
  4. Online applications cannot be edited later, so applicants must read the instructions carefully before completing the form. Ensure that the 'Acknowledgement Receipt' is obtained to confirm the submission.
  5. Any documents submitted after the application deadline, whether by email or post, will not be accepted.
  6. Applicants should communicate only with the Education Section of the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu.
  7. Scholarship recipients who fail Class 11 (for MGSS) or the first year and subsequent years (both semesters) of a Bachelor's degree (for GJSS) will no longer be eligible for the scholarship.
  8. The decision to accept or reject applications and to continue or discontinue the scholarship lies with the Indian Embassy.

Important Information:

The Indian Embassy will only accept applications directly from applicants. Applications submitted through educational consultants or intermediaries will not be recognized. Students are advised to be cautious of unauthorized entities.
