Overview

Central Secondary School For The Deaf was founded in 1967 A.D. (2023 B.S.) as a Public educational institution. It located at Naxal, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is affiliated to the National Examinations Board (NEB) for Grade one to Ten Plus Two programs. It is also approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers Ten Plus Two programs under Management and Education, streams.
 
Central Secondary School For The Deaf (Kendriya Bahira Madhyamik Vidhyalaya) provides school level education with moderate fee structures and also provides a scholarship scheme for deserving students.

The institution that was established in Bir Hospital, which was transferred under the guidance and supervision of the National Children Organization in Naxal. From the building of that organization, formal education for the deaf was established. In 2034 National Society Service Coordination. It was established and the school was run under this institution though the financial responsible taken by the Ministry of Education. The school was conducted and run through the management of the Welfare Society for the Hearing Impaired Organization and was funded under the Special Education Council as a branch of the Ministry of Education. It has been running as its own School management committee since 2064 and moreover this Central Higher Secondary School is the first school for the deaf in Nepal.

Mission:

As it is one of the leading institutions, it aims to provide quality education. It is the first institution to provide education for hearing impaired students. Now It has become one of the leading institutions in recent days. It has been extended from school level to campus level. With the guidance and supervision of the government, the curriculum is run through.  " Quality Education with professional Development" is its motto.

In the future, this institution aims to provide other skills-oriented programs besides the regular curriculum of this school. Its mission is clear and as far as possible, it tries to provide affordable and quality education. It endeavors to connect with other institutions globally so that our mission becomes clear and transparent.

To develop proper sign language and develop effective teaching.
To develop proper education for the deaf with coordination of national and international organizations and agencies.
To provide free education for the deaf.
To fulfill all the objectives denoted and determined by the government of Nepal.
To provide the opportunity to get higher education for the deaf.
To expand this school till deaf university.

Teaching instruction:

 The deaf students cannot hear and teach through speaking can not be considered better for the deaf so, it is necessary to teach through visual and for that the sign language is necessary medium to teach for teaching. Besides the sign language, other teaching materials are used to teach for them.

Physical aspects:

There are four buildings of this school inside Balmandir and ground, one library room and one recreational hall, facilities of drinking water and toilets, science lab, canteen, three buses are used to carry the students.

Educational aspects:

  • Preprimary classes (1, 2, and 3)
  • Classes are run from 1-12
  • The optional subject is optional math and population.
  • There are computer classes from six classes to twelve classes.
  • Involvement in SLC from 2055.
  • Sent –percent (25 students) pass in the appeared examination of 2068.
  • There are 35 students studying in classes 11 and 29 students studying in class 12.

The economic status of the school:

  • Free educational facility till 12 classes and mainly there is no proper source income for this school.
  • The minimum fee charged is taken from the students at the hostel and for bus fare.
  • The salary of the teachers and the staffs are provided by Special Education Council
  • Contribution from government and non -governmental originations to make buildings, chairs, and furniture.
  • Donations for the library, canteen and recreational home from international organizations.

Silent Features: Classroom, Cafeteria, Sports, Conference, Parking, Counselling, Scholarship, Tour, transportation, ECA, Music,  Dance, etc.
