Tribhuvan University Land Investigation Report Handed to the PM KP Sharma Oli
On Tuesday, 17 December 2024, the Commission for Investigation of Land and Property of Tribhuvan University handed over its report to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
In the presence of Education, Science, and Technology Minister Vidya Bhattarai and university officials, commission member Mahendra Thapa presented the report at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, summarizing its findings. The five-member commission was formed on Jestha 17 by the Council of Ministers, with former Secretary Sharada Prasad Trital as the coordinator.
The commission submitted its report to Education, Science, and Technology Minister Vidya Bhattarai on Mangsir 14. After receiving the report, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need for immediate implementation of its conclusions and further study and investigation. He noted that the commission was formed under the leadership of a capable individual and that additional research is required for areas not covered by the commission.
Due to coordinator Trital's illness, member Mahendra Thapa coordinated and finalized the report. The report suggests solutions for the condition, misuse, and utilization of land at 21 campuses in the Kathmandu Valley, including TU Kirtipur, Naikap, Dhungeadda, and Patan, dating back to 2013 BS. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the committee also recommended writing to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police regarding the misuse of riat.
