Prime Minister Stresses Need for Global Standards in Education at Kathmandu University 29t Convocation

Dhulikhel, Kavre – December 14, 2023, In a recent address at Kathmandu University's 29th convocation ceremony, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' emphasized the need for Nepal's education system to align with global standards. As the Prime Minister and Chancellor, he highlighted the university's role in spearheading educational reforms and shaping the future of higher education in Nepal.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' articulated a compelling vision for revolutionizing Nepal's higher education system. He emphasized the critical need for educational reform, aligning Nepal's academic standards with global requirements. His focus was not merely on internationalization but also on integrating local youth energy and creativity, as highlighted in the blueprint presented by Vice-Chancellor Professor Bhola Thapa.

A significant aspect of Dahal's speech was the recognition of Kathmandu University's contributions to climate change education. The university's active engagement in international dialogues, notably at the COP-28 conference, underscores its role in global environmental discussions. This commitment extends to the establishment of the Nepal Technology Innovation Center, a hub for research and development in crucial areas like agriculture, sustainable development, and climate change prevention.

Dahal also praised the university for its expansion beyond traditional disciplines, exemplifying this with the innovative Bachelor in Yogic Science and Wellbeing program. Another major stride was the development of a 1000-bed teaching hospital, a testament to Kathmandu University's efforts to integrate medical education with practice and address healthcare needs in Nepal.
