Fostering Ethical and Skilled Manpower: A Goal for Nepal Sanskrit University

Ethical, skilled manpower is an objective that the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University, Prof. Dr. Yadav Prakash Lamichhane, believes should be a priority for the institution. Speaking at an event held at Valmiki Vidyapeeth in Kathmandu, Prof. Lamichhane emphasized the necessity of producing graduates who are not just competent in their fields but also uphold strong moral values.

Advocating for Honesty and Ethical Conduct

In his address, Prof. Lamichhane underscored that the university's alumni should exemplify honesty and ethical conduct alongside their academic and professional skills. He highlighted that Nepal Sanskrit University is planning to host special sessions to imbue their university and gurukul students with moral values.

The Vice-Chancellor committed to the inclusion of students from different backgrounds in the university, stressing that those from Prakashashtra and Gurukul alike are welcomed.

Essential Traits for Library Staff

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a three-month training on library and information science organized by the Library Management and Information Services Center, Prof. Lamichhane defined the qualities required for personnel working in libraries. He asserted that expertise, politeness, and modesty are critical for anyone working in such a role.

Prof. Lamichhane expressed concern over the dwindling study culture among the new generation, suggesting that a unique plan should be developed to engage students more effectively with libraries.

The program was presided over by Saroja Shrestha, President of the Center. Other notable attendees included Valmiki Vidyapeeth Principal Prof. Dr. Bhagwat Dhakal, Head of English Department Prof. Krishna Paudel, United Nations Office Rajendraman Banepali, and representatives from Tribhuvan University and Nepal National Library. The speakers shared their views on the current academic situation and future plans for improving the study culture and library resources in Nepal.
