Government School in Nepal

Kutidanda Secondary School, located in Makaibari of Dolakha under Bhimeshwar Municipality-7, has been able to provide fresh and clean lunch to its students despite the small amount of funds allocated by the government. Principal Shankarlal Shrestha revealed that the school was successful in doing so by entrusting parents to provide their children with fresh and healthy meals.

Each student receives only 15 rupees from the government, which is not sufficient for a full lunch meal. Initially, the school attempted to provide meals from the school kitchen and later through a canteen but received complaints about the taste and salt levels in the food.

The school then called a meeting of the parents and requested them to take the 15 rupees and provide fresh, clean and healthy lunch to their children. This approach worked well, and the children are now eating meals prepared by their mothers, which has been successful in all aspects.

According to Principal Shrestha, parents are motivated to send their children to school regularly, as they will receive the government's money only after the child appears in school. There is now a competition among parents to provide the best meal for their child, and the children bring and eat snacks according to their taste with no complaints whatsoever.

A total of 220 students, including 48 from the nursery and KG, 23 from class 1, 31 from class 2, 29 from class 3, 35 from class 4, 32 from class 5, and 22 from class 6, are now able to have fresh, clean and healthy lunch made by their mothers.
