Government expands National Identity Card / Rastriya Parichaya Patra Application Process in Kathmandu Valley

The Nepalese government has recently announced that citizens from all over the country can apply for National Identity Card (Rastriya Parichaya Patra) even from Kathmandu. In order to speed up the application and distribution process, the government has designated five more locations within the valley.

New locations designated for National Identity Card application

Krishna Paudel, the director of the National Identity Card and Registration Department, revealed that 27 stations have been designated at five locations in the valley to speed up the application and distribution of the National Identity Card. These locations include the District Administration Office Kathmandu, District Administration Office Lalitpur, Narayanhiti Durbar Complex, National Auditorium, and the Central Office of the department located at Sinha Durbar.

Beneficiaries eligible to apply

Paudel clarified that beneficiaries of all districts except Lalitpur and Bhaktapur of Bagmati Province and Parsa and Dhanush of Madhesh Province can apply at District Administration Office Kathmandu. Similarly, the beneficiaries of all the districts of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and Saptari and Sarlahi districts of Madhesh Province can apply at the District Administration Office Lalitpur. In the Narayanhiti Durbar premises, citizens from all the districts of Koshi, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, and Sirha, Mahottari, Bara, and Rautah of Madhesh provinces can apply.

Eligibility for government employees and their families

In the department premises, Nepal government and subordinate employees, ex-employees, and special officials can apply for the National Identity Card. Additionally, the families of employees can apply at the Rastriya Sabha Griha located on Exhibition Road (Pradashani Marga).

Application arrangements still in place across the country

Director Poudel has also confirmed that even though the application and distribution arrangements have been made from the Kathmandu valley for citizens across the country, the arrangement to apply for the national identity card from all district administration offices and 42 locality administration offices across the country is still in place.

Overall, The Nepalese government's decision to expand the National Identity Card application process in Kathmandu Valley will undoubtedly benefit citizens who previously faced delays in obtaining their identity cards. By designating more locations and stations, the government aims to expedite the application and distribution process, which will make it easier for citizens to obtain their National Identity Cards.
