Janata Secondary School SMC (School Management Committee of Sindhuli) Locked the School:
The school management committee has indefinitely locked the Janata Secondary School at Khaniyakharka, Golanjor Gaonpalika-5 of Sindhuli.
According to locals, the school management committee and parents' association locked the school indefinitely on Tuesday due to a dispute over the appointment of a headmaster. According to locals, the school management committee had recommended Ramesh Verma for the post of primary school principal after the school principal Nawaraj Thapa resigned from the post last February.
The school was locked after a dispute arose after the Rural Municipality appointed Suman Koirala as the headmaster on the basis of seniority. The teachers and staff who had been suspended for six months after his appointment as the headmaster were paid on July 10. Buddhi Bahadur Palpali, chairman of the ward, said that some members of the school management committee had started a quarrel.
He said, “During the formation of the school management committee, it was agreed to give the chairman of the committee and the chairman of the parents' association to the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the school principal to the teacher close to the Nepali Congress. Accordingly, a school management committee and a parents' association were formed.
He said that the CPN (Maoist) had locked up the school after a quarrel. According to Ward Chairman Palpali, Suman Koirala, who has been appointed as the headmaster by the Rural Municipality, is the oldest teacher working in the school and he should also get the headmaster.
According to Ward Chairman Palpali, a meeting of the school management committee was convened on July 3 to send the SEE number.
Chairman of the School Management Committee Nirmal Kumar Ramtel said that the parents had locked the administrative room saying that the appointment was not made as per the recommendation made for the appointment of the headmaster. After the resignation of the acting principal Nawaraj Thapa, Verma has been working as the principal, said Chairman Ramtel. He said that the school would be closed without any consultation with the parents and the management committee, adding that the lockout was due to serious administrative error.
Chairman of Rural Municipality Pushpa Bahadur Karki, on the other hand, said that Suman Koirala has been appointed as a primary school teacher on the basis of seniority. Stating that the teachers and staff of the school have not been paid for six months due to the delay in the appointment of the headmaster, Karki clarified that the headmaster could not be appointed as per the recommendation as the teacher Verma was third in terms of seniority.
