Rolpa is a district in Nepal where a significant number of students dropout of school due to various reasons, including a lack of interest from stakeholders. The issue is prevalent across all municipalities in the district, and it affects the overall education system in the region. According to the district education coordination unit in Rolpa, a large number of students have dropped out of school, including those who had filled the registration form for the SEE examination. Among the students who filled the registration in 2078, it was found that 630 people left the school when they filled the application in 2079. The reasons for dropping out were not investigated, but poverty, lack of professional education, and parents' inability to provide financial support are some of the significant factors.

Among the 12 secondary schools, 41 students of Child Welfare Model Secondary School dropped out. In Sunil Smriti Rural Municipality, 82 people, i.e., 13.16 percent, have dropped out of school. Similarly, in Thawang Rural Municipality, five people, i.e., 10.69 percent, 122 people, i.e., 21.79 percent in Triveni Rural Municipality, 56 people, i.e., 18.75 percent in Gangadeo Rural Municipality, 37 people, i.e., 8.10 percent in Parivar Rural Municipality, 54 people, i.e., 10.74 percent in Lungri Rural Municipality, 39 people, i.e., 12 percent in Madi Rural Municipality, and 33 people, i.e., 12.45 percent in Sunchahari Rural Municipality dropped out of school.

Stakeholder Response:

The headmaster of Balkalyan Naamal Secondary School, Madhusudan Pokhrel, says that the dropout rate is not good for the students' future. He urges the interested parties to be more careful about the matter and take necessary steps to reduce the rate. Mayor of Rolpa Municipality, Surendra Thapa Gharti, expresses his concern over the situation and states that there is a lack of interest in education due to the preference for foreign employment. He emphasizes the importance of education and plans to explain its significance to the people.
