The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have proposed to operate the private school for the traffic jam management of Kathmandu Valley from 9 am to 3 pm.

Secretary of the Ministry Mahesh Prasad Dahal called on the representatives of the private school operators to change the timing of school operation. Currently, private schools are operating from 10 am to 5 pm. Chairman of the National Private and Boarding School Association Nepal (NPABSAN), Ritu Raj Sapkota, who participated in the discussion, said that the government's proposal would be discussed further and said that it would be appropriate to bring a policy of operation to all schools including community schools.

As some of the big private schools of Kathmandu Valley are attracting remote students, they are having difficulty in managing traffic at the time of returning to and from office. The new government proposal proposes that schools may be forced to teach only students in the area closest to them. The National Zoning Policy, 2076 also provides for school zoning.
