Kathmandu University announces vacancy for Research and Lab Technical Positions

Turbine Testing Lab (TTL) is undertaking a project entitled “Establishment of centre for design, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment for hydropower plants in Himalaya Region at Kathmandu University” funded by Energize Nepal (ENEP) project. The project aims in enhancing the capability of TTL to serve as a centre for sustainable development of hydropower in Nepal and in the region. The capacity of TTL will be developed for research, design verification and model test certification to provide technical solutions and support related to mechanical equipment of hydropower, focusing on turbines.

Application from qualified, hardworking and result oriented professionals is hereby invited for the following positions.

  1. Position: Researchers (full time)

Major Responsibilities: to carry our necessary research activities to fulfil the objectives of the project which includes design and installation of an IEC standard hydro turbine test rig at TTL, setup instrumentation measurement procedures, fabrication of model runners and performance testing of models in the test rig.

Minimum qualification and experiences: A four years of undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering with some years of experience in the field of hydropower sector. Candidates with Masters in Mechanical Engineering will be given preference.

  1. Position: Lab Technician (full time)

Major Responsibilities: to carry our necessary installation works to fullfil the objectives of the project which includes design and installation of an IEC standard hydro turbine test rig at TTL, facilitate during the fabrication of model runners and performance testing of models in the test rig.

Minimum qualification and experiences: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with experience on hydropower sector will be an added advantage.
