OVERVIEW:

The United States Peace Corps Nepal office is hiring qualified candidates for short-term contract positions that support an intensive Volunteer Pre-Service Training (PST) and related Volunteer support activities. Applicants must be willing to live in a village around or outside of the Kathmandu valley during the contract period. This is a short-term position and for the duration of the project it requires a minimum of 40 hours per week; work during festivals & holidays that occur during the contract period may be required. This is a project-based contract and may be renewed up to four future assignments without competition based on satisfactory performance, organizational need, and availability of funds. Compensation is negotiable within a pre-determined range, based on salary history and experience. Those candidates who are currently working with Peace Corps/PST with option period, do not need to apply for the same position.

QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION:

Applicants without minimum qualifications clearly outlined will not be competitive; preference is given to citizens residing in Nepal at the time of application. VACANCIES: All positions require fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English and computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.

1. Training Administrative Assistant (TAA) - 1 Position Available

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Fluency in both written & spoken Nepali & English. Minimum of one year of experience providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of an office. Expertise in Microsoft Office application usage (especially MS Word, Outlook & Excel).

2. Training Site Secretary (TSS) - 1 Position Available

Required:

Higher Secondary Education (+2) or equivalent. Fluent in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of six months of experience performing secretary and/or administrative tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Outlook, and Excel). Ability to type both in English and Nepali.

3. Training Driver - 1 Position Available

Required:

High School or Vocational School Diploma. Must have working knowledge of English. Must have valid Driving License with clean driving record and minimum 3 years work experience driving on mountainous roads outside Kathmandu Valley. Must have thorough knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations. Basic vehicle maintenance skills and experience in administrative support work is preferred.

4. Lead Language and Culture Facilitator (LLCF) - 1 Position Available

Required:

University Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Minimum of 1 year experience of Nepali language teaching or tutoring in a formal or non-formal setting. Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

5. Language and Culture Facilitators (LCFs) - Up to 6 Positions

Required:

University Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of 6 months of experience teaching or tutoring learners in a formal or non-formal setting. Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

6. Agriculture Technical Trainer (ATT) - 1 Position Available

Required:

University Bachelor’s degree in a Project-related subject (Agriculture, Health). Minimum 1 year experience working alongside village community members on locally prioritized agriculture projects in Nepal. Computer proficiency in MS Office: Windows, Excel, Word. 7. Teaching English as a Foreign Language Technical Trainer (TEFL TT) - 1 Position Available

Required:

University Bachelor’s degree in a project-related subject. Minimum 1 year experience teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language. Computer proficiency in MS Office: Windows, Excel, Word.

8. Environment Technical Trainer (ENV TT) - 1 Position Available

Required:

University Bachelor’s degree in a Project-related subject (Forestry, Environmental Science). Minimum 1 year experience working alongside community forest user groups and locally prioritized environment projects in Nepal. Computer proficiency in MS Office: Windows, Excel, Word.
