Former Lieutenant General Balananda Sharma Appointed as CEO of CCMC:

Former Lieutenant General of Nepal Army Balananda Sharma has been appointed as the CEO of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC). A cabinet meeting held on Monday evening appointed Sharma as the CEO of CCMC.

Sharma will be the CEO of CCMC as well as the member secretary of the steering committee led by the prime minister. The member secretary of the board of directors is the CEO of CCMC. Sharma has been politically appointed as secretary.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel was the CEO of the Board of Directors. At present, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli himself is leading the board of directors.

The Board of Directors consists of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Home, General Administration, and Federal Affairs, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Health and Population, Finance, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Tourism.

The Covid response will include members of the Nepal Army, the Armed Police Force, and the Additional Inspector General of the Nepal Police. The government has given it the right to mobilize the army by declaring a state of emergency.
